Save Time with Magnets

Knives initially installed in the head are required to be set to height within their respective slots so that their tips are aligned on the machine’s cutting circle. On conventional cutter heads, this involves a manual adjustment of a pair of the gib screws to provide just enough friction on the knife to allow it to be gauged into position prior to final gib screw tightening.

This time consuming process has been eliminated with the DT Gibs system. Our gibs incorporate small, but powerful, rare earth magnets. The knife is placed in the slot and merely pushed down to the approximate pre-gauging postion where they are held in perfect tension by the disc magnets. Setting to height is simple and quick.
