Maintenance Issues

Knife Steel

A New Maintenance Solution

The cutter head body is free of tapped holes - an historically problematic (and expensive) maintenance area of conventional heads.

The gib, wedge, and gib screws are located on the non-cutting side of the knife and are, therefore, not subject to wear and/or pitch or debris build-up.

When the knives, gibs, and wedges are fully installed, the head becomes a solid cylinder with no gaps between the parts. This eliminates cutting forces and side loading problems that plague conventional heads such as: slot wear, stress cracking, and gib screw and tapped hole damage.
