DESIGNTEK LLC was founded on February 11, 2003 by Thomas A. Meados

Mr. Meados was the principal design engineer for two major industrial planer manufacturing firms over a span of 25 years. During this period, many innovations in planer technology occurred, but planer head design remained essentially the same as it has been for the last 150 years.
Increasing the number of knives in a planer was achieved by increasing the cutting circle on new designs or by compromising the safety of existing heads by reducing the angle between the gib screw centerline and the face of the gib, thus reducing knife holding forces.

 

With the revolutionary DT Gibs knife holding system, DESIGNTEK has addressed the need for more knives, more efficient knife mounting, easier and quicker knife changing, and reduced maintenance.
